Story

End-of-life vehicles are rarely seen as a positive story. They’re associated with scrapyards, paperwork and technical processes few people understand.

Volkswagen chose to reframe that moment.

With “Car Paradise,” the campaign follows a Volkswagen Golf 2 through the full recycling journey at a Derichebourg facility, from collection to dismantling to material recovery. The process is shown clearly and transparently, but treated with an unexpected tone. Light music and an upbeat rhythm replace the usual industrial gravity.

The objective isn’t to dramatize the end of a car. It’s to normalize it.

By showing what actually happens after a vehicle leaves the road, the campaign makes recycling concrete and accessible. Sustainability becomes less abstract, more procedural – part of the ownership cycle rather than its conclusion.

Impact

95%+ material recovery, thanks to advanced processes in Derichebourg-approved centres, ensuring most end-of-life vehicle materials are reused.
